Preventative Maintenance Technician – Direct Hire
Location: Charlotte, NC (local travel)
Work Environment: Commercial HVAC service sites across various customer facilities
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay Range: $75k- $95k
Hours: 40 hours per week, OT as needed
Travel: Local travel throughout the Charlotte area
Position Overview
Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a company to identify a skilled Preventative Maintenance (PM) Technician for a direct hire opportunity. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, inspections, and routine service on commercial HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance, extend equipment life, and prevent system failures. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on commercial HVAC systems
- Conduct basic diagnostics to identify system wear, malfunctions, and safety concerns
- Document service findings, recommendations, and completed work using electronic reporting tools
- Communicate professionally with customers during service visits and address system-related questions
- Coordinate with Service Coordinators to schedule maintenance and follow-up service
- Assist with ordering parts and planning additional service when issues are identified
- Utilize OEM and vendor applications to access equipment data, specifications, and maintenance requirements
- Maintain organized service documentation and equipment records
- Support Sales and Service teams by identifying system deficiencies and participating in site surveys
- Follow all safety procedures, utilize proper PPE, and identify jobsite hazards
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–7 years of HVAC maintenance experience (commercial experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and preventative maintenance practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, specifications, and equipment documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify early-stage system issues
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA certification (or ability to obtain)
- Experience using OEM/vendor software and mobile service applications
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving
