Maintains, operates and repairs HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and air conditioning) and other building related systems on campus. Essential duties include developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and others within the college community. Responsibilities include the following specific duties and other assignments as required by their Supervisor to support the needs of the college and campus operations.
Education Requirement: The individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certification. A technical degree and continuing education in related seminars and courses to maintain a working knowledge of new and emerging technologies is preferred.
Licenses or Certifications: The individual must maintain EPA certification as a Universal Technician or be a candidate for certification within the next 6 months.
Technical/Computer Skills: The individual should be proficient in Windows based software and feel comfortable navigating the Internet. Knowledge of Carrier IVue Pro software would be plus.The individual must possess the ability to read blueprints and diagrams, technical journals, communicate in English through speech, reading and writing skills.
Prior Experience: Two or more years of experience in the HVAC field are preferred. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and EHS guidelines are essential. Technical knowledge of HVAC systems acquired through training and experience is preferred. Skill in reading blueprints and diagrams, basic welding, and plumbing skills are desirable.
Physical & Environmental Demands: The employee frequently is required to walk to various campus locations and is occasionally required to climb to access and maintain rooftop air handler units, exhaust fans and other building related equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
The individual will be required, on occasions, to adjust and respond to an emergency, requiring work to be stopped on a current project, to address the emergency elsewhere. The individual may be required on occasions to work during off hours, including weekends, and holidays, with as much notice given as possible.
