Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and maintain industrial water and centrifugal chillers—including systems using Frick, SABROE, and YORK compressors—on marine vessels and industrial facilities.
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on refrigeration and airconditioning systems, ensuring peak efficiency and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in largescale chiller and marine refrigeration systems.
  • Overhaul and refurbish compressors and other key components to improve performance and system reliability.
  • Be trainable and able to independently execute full compressor overhauls and refurbishments in our Hialeah workshop once trained.
  • Collaborate with marine engineers and project teams to optimize system layouts and minimize operational downtime.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, service reports, and compliance records.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior technicians, especially regarding industrial and marine refrigeration systems.
  • Stay current with new technologies in marine HVAC and refrigeration, integrating new diagnostic tools and techniques as needed.
  • Travel extensively—domestically and internationally—for extended periods to support onboard service, commissioning, and emergency repairs.

Qualifications

  • Extensive handson experience with industrial chillers—especially water chillers, centrifugal chillers, and compressors from Frick, SABROE, and YORK.
  • Proven experience in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and overhaul of complex refrigeration systems.
  • HVAC/Refrigeration certifications required; marinefocused training is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, manuals, and marine HVAC drawings.
  • Strong problemsolving skills in demanding marine environments.
  • Physically fit and able to work in confined, dynamic, and challenging marine spaces.
  • Fluent in English, with strong communication skills for coordination and reporting.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder (authorization to work in the U.S. required).
  • Willingness to travel intensively for long durations.

Important Notes

  • This is a nonunion position.
  • This role is suitable for technicians with commercial chiller experience.
  • Candidates may be subject to periodic screenings for compliance with technical, safety, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to work independently both in the workshop and onboard vessels is required.

Working Conditions

Work may occur in varied marine environments, often physically demanding and sometimes hazardous. Flexibility for night, weekend, and extendedhour schedules may be required to support client operations.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $29-$39 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
